Preparing your brochure file

A saddle-stitched brochure is made of folded sections: its page count must be a multiple of 4, cover included, with the pages in the right order.

Pagination

Count every side: page 1 is the front cover, the last page is the back cover. The total must be a multiple of 4 (8, 12, 16, 20…). Add blank pages if needed to reach the right count.

Supplying the pages

Supply one multi-page PDF with single pages in reading order (not printer’s spreads). Keep the same size and the same orientation on every page.

Margins and safety zone

Near the binding (the stapled centre fold), move text a little further in so it doesn’t get lost in the fold. Keep the bleed on the outer edges.

Check before you send

  • Page count is a multiple of 4
