Which binding should you choose?

Two professional bindings, two purposes. The saddle-stitched brochure (2 staples on the central fold) is the most economical option and the easiest to flick through: it opens nice and flat and suits 8 to 96 inner pages, with or without a separate cover. The perfect bound catalogue (seamless adhesive binding) wraps the page block in a cover that forms a flat spine: a premium, durable, book-like finish for 40 to 128 inner pages — and its printable spine stays readable on a bookshelf or display stand.

A printed format for every message

Brochures and catalogues remain the most persuasive way to present a complete offer: people keep them, annotate them and pass them around. Here are the most popular uses among our customers.

Perfect bound

Product catalogue

Full range, references and pricing: the flat spine and generous page count (up to 128 pages) make it the go-to sales tool.

Saddle-stitched

Magazine & internal newsletter

Company periodical, club or community magazine: stitching is economical to repeat issue after issue, from 8 to 96 pages.

Saddle-stitched

Sales brochure

Company presentation in 8 to 16 pages: A4 or A5 with a heavyweight paper cover for a polished first impression.

Saddle-stitched

Event programme

Festival, trade show, cultural season or sports competition: the 105 × 210 mm size slips into a pocket, A5 into a bag.

Perfect bound

Lookbook & portfolio

Fashion, architecture, photography: 170 gsm gloss coated paper and adhesive binding for a piece people keep like a book.

Perfect bound

Annual report

Activity review, CSR report or institutional document: the printed square spine adds gravitas and makes archiving easy.

Preparing your artwork

Send a single multi-page PDF with all pages in reading order: page 1 = front cover, last page = back cover. Supply single pages, never facing-page spreads — our imposition software assembles the sections. The number of inner pages must be a multiple of 4; add blank pages to the PDF if needed.

On every page: 3 mm bleed on all four edges, text and logos at least 5 mm from the trim edge, images at 300 dpi, CMYK colours and outlined or embedded fonts (ideally a PDF/X-4). For perfect binding, allow for the spine thickness on the cover file: its width depends on the page count and paper weight chosen — avoid placing elements across the fold and keep the spine title centred with a safe margin.

Not sure? Download the template for your chosen size from the configurator, read our guides on preparing a brochure file and preparing a catalogue file, or browse the complete printing guide. And in every case, we check your file free of charge before printing begins.

Bleed

3 mm on every edge, 5 mm safe zone for text.

Resolution

300 dpi for images, CMYK colours, embedded fonts.

Perfect binding

Allow for the spine width on the cover, based on page count and paper.

Papers & print quality

The inner pages are printed in full colour on both sides (4/4) on the paper of your choice: 90 gsm matt coated for high page counts that stay light to post, 130 or 170 gsm coated, matt or gloss — some FSC® certified — for deep photos and vivid colours, offset paper 90, 100 or 120 gsm with a natural feel, pleasant to read and easy to write on, or 160 gsm natural paper FSC® for a premium, responsible finish.

Matt absorbs light and favours readability for long-form text; gloss makes visuals and solid colours pop; uncoated offset adds an editorial, authentic touch. On the saddle-stitched brochure with a cover, combine a heavier weight outside with a lighter paper inside for a professional result at the best cost.

Matt coated

90, 130 or 170 gsm — perfect readability, understated and elegant.

Gloss coated

130 or 170 gsm — vibrant colours, ideal for photos and visuals.

Offset & natural

Offset 90/100/120 gsm, natural 160 gsm FSC® — authentic feel.

Frequently asked questions

Saddle-stitched brochure or perfect bound catalogue: which should I choose?+
The saddle-stitched brochure (2 staples on the fold) covers 8 to 96 inner pages: it is the most economical option, from €33.21 ex. VAT for 25 copies, ideal for company brochures, programmes and magazines. The perfect bound catalogue (seamless adhesive binding, cover included) covers 40 to 128 inner pages: its flat, printable spine gives a genuine book-like finish, perfect for product catalogues, lookbooks and annual reports.
Does the page count have to be a multiple of 4?+
Yes. Pages are printed as folded sections: the number of inner pages must always be a multiple of 4 (8, 12, 16… up to 96 pages saddle-stitched; 40, 44, 48… up to 128 pages perfect bound). A blank page counts as a page: include it in your PDF if needed.
Can the cover be different from the inner pages?+
Yes. For the saddle-stitched brochure, the configurator offers a choice with or without a cover: with a cover, you combine a heavier paper on the outside and a lighter paper inside. For the perfect bound catalogue, the cover is always included: it wraps the page block and forms the flat spine.
Which inner papers are available?+
Coated papers: 90 gsm matt, 130 and 170 gsm matt or gloss (some FSC® certified) for vibrant visuals; offset papers 90, 100 or 120 gsm for a natural feel that is easy to write on; natural paper 160 gsm FSC® for a premium finish. The inner pages are printed in full colour on both sides (4/4).
How should I prepare my PDF file?+
Send a single multi-page PDF with the pages in reading order (page 1 = front cover), as single pages rather than spreads, with 3 mm bleed on every edge, images at 300 dpi, CMYK colours and outlined or embedded fonts. For perfect binding, also allow for the spine width on the cover file. Your file is checked free of charge before printing.
What are the quantities and production times?+
From 25 to 10,000 copies, with strong volume discounts: the higher the quantity, the lower the unit price. Standard production takes 6 working days; the estimated delivery date is shown in the configurator before you order.
